Liposuction

Long Island LiposuctionLiposuction, also referred to as lipoplasty, liposculpture, or suction assisted lipectomy, is a procedure designed to reshape and slim the body through minimal incisions. It is ideally suited for the removal and recontouring of localized areas of fat accumulation that are resistant to diet or exercise in patients of "normal" body weight and good skin tone. It is not a procedure which should be performed for weight loss, and cannot eliminate "cellulite" or correct loose, hanging skin. If fat is removed from beneath the skin to produce a "smaller size", then the overlying skin must be elastic enough to shrink and recontour to that smaller size. If not, and the skin has lost too much of its elasticity, it will wrinkle and hang even more, and a "skin tightening" procedure such as a face lift, abdominoplasty, thigh lift, buttock lift, or arm lift may be required for the optimal result. Dr. Gold performs all of the variations of lipoplasty, including "traditional or conventional lipoplasty", "ultrasonic lipoplasty", and "power-assisted lipoplasty", with "tumescent" or "super-wet" technique, frequently combining those approaches to meet the particular needs of individual patients.
